I Dont Care About The Funny Way You Wear Your Hair
For as long as I can remember painting exhibitions have been hung in a conventional way on gallery walls. The nature of my work often gives me the opportunity to exhibit it in a less formal way, like hanging an exhibition outside (e.g. in the dense forest on Christmas Island in 2005).
For this exhibition I have hung 17 little pictures on the backs of chairs which are placed at random in the gallery space. By wandering through the chairs the viewer will get a sense of an exploration and they will be able to get a close look at the small pictures from many angles which would not have been easy if hung in the usual way. Each picture commands its own space.
