The JCAA Board join me in thanking you all for your support and patience over this past year. It has been a year of transition and your support has been paramount to our success. Our members are our foundation and we hope you will continue to support us in 2013.
The “Christmas Extravaganza” continues until Friday 21st December. Please continue to encourage friends and interested parties to visit. The moving of the night markets has unfortunately affected sales and we have made the City aware of this. We are also putting in place a further initiative for Wednesday 12th. We are inviting “the City of Joondalup” and “Bank managers and employees” to visit the gallery next Wednesday between 10.30 and 2 pm to see the exhibition and have some light refreshments, to try and initiate more interest. Details and collection of artworks is from 12 noon – 4 pm on Friday 21st December.
9th – 18th January: “HORIZONS Exhibition” (Emerging Artists Exhibition) A City of Joondalup initiative.
22nd January – 1st February: “Lines and Spaces” – Pauline Sookloll, winner of the 2012 “Art In Focus Award”. A City of Joondalup Initiative.
Friday 1st February – First Members Friday end of month tea and talk by artist Pauline Sookloll.
2012 IN A NUTSHELL
Some interesting statistics:
During the year we held: 1 team building exercise, 12 end of month tea and talks, 18 initiatives introduced by the City to include workshops, exhibitions and artists talks, 93 Workshops and 20 JCAA initiated exhibitions. We had only 1 “empty” week.
The addition of three new board members has brought a range of different skills and experience to the JCAA board. This should streamline and further enhance our ability to support our membership and continue to provide exciting exhibitions, workshops and talks.
My personal thanks go to our Chairman Bill Robinson, Shiela Ayling, Eva Boogaard, Hettie Rowley, Matthew Prouse, Lindsay Dullea, Prina Shah, Val Cave and Bill Dennis for their invaluable contributions in the running of the gallery.
CITY OF JOONDALUP
Our thanks go to Alex Mac Iver, Amanda Alderson and Nicole Warren for their continued support and interest in the gallery.
We already have 16 exhibitions booked for 2013, to include our 3 members’ shows, and 5 from the city. The entire “Urban Couture” Exhibition, “Aperture and Lace” is being brought to the Gallery to include all the garments and models which are usually housed at Lakeside. This should bring a lot of focus and interest to the gallery.
Renata Wright has already booked in for the entire year with her water colour classes starting on Saturday morning the 2nd of February and Tuesday evening the 5th of February.
Judy Rogers begins her painting classes on Thursday morning the 7th of February.
Figure drawing “sessions” have been initiated once a month by Hettie Rowley on a Monday evening and will continue in 2013, but booking is essential. Hettie will also continue classes in 2013 and information relating to these will be sent out early next year.
The “Community Totem” is starting to take shape with a few members creating very interesting small pieces. Many thanks for this and please keep engaging with this initiative.
COFFEE EVENINGS/ DISCUSSIONS:
We are hoping to start up an evening gathering once a month (everybody welcome / gold coin donation) to discuss and debate all things art related. If you have any ideas’ on the type of discussions that might interest you, or area’s you would like to know more about, please let us know your thoughts.
WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY, PEACEFUL AND HEALTHY CHRISTMAS AND A WONDERFUL 2013
